I'm your host, sherri Davidson. I'm a wellness coach and acupuncturist in Houston, texas, and I am deeply passionate about health and well-being. And, as always, I am here with my co-host, finn. And if you're new to the podcast, finn is my terrier mixed rescue dog, trail runner and loyal companion. He is also a therapy dog and greeter at element five, acupuncture and wellness.

In this special episode of the Wellness Inspired podcast, we will celebrate International Women's Day. That was last Friday, march the 8th, and I have this content because I was invited back to the Decorative Center Houston to give a talk on Wellness for Interior Designers for International Women's Day. So I did that last Friday and afterwards a couple of people in the audience asked if there was anywhere they could revisit this information and of course I've said well, I've got a great idea, I'll make an episode out of it and put it on the podcast. That's what we're going to do today, so that way, people can revisit the content whenever they like. I have tweaked it a little to make it more for the general public instead of just interior designers. I hope you like it. Everyone seemed to like it at the DCA to the Decorative Center Houston, so I hope you enjoy it too. Now you're probably wondering what are you going to learn? Well, in this episode, I talk about the transformative power of empowerment, authenticity and resilience, and I'll share insights to guide you towards a healthier, more balanced life, from personal anecdotes to practical tips. Discover how to integrate these pillars of strength into your daily routine for enhanced well-being. Plus, at the end, you'll get to immerse yourself in a mindful meditation session to ground yourself in the present moment and reconnect with your inner strength, authenticity and resilience. I am very excited to be here with you today on the special occasion of International Women's Day, a day dedicated to recognizing and celebrating women's extraordinary strength, resilience and achievements worldwide.

When I talked to Morgan at the Decorative Center about her vision for this event, she mentioned empowerment several times, and it made me ask what does empowerment mean to you? It was not a trick question or to put her on the spot. I truly, genuinely wanted to know, and her response was perfect. It set the stage for this talk. It was perfect because it encapsulated the very essence of what this day represents. Morgan defined empowerment as the ability to look in the mirror authentically see yourself, acknowledge all you have been through and remember who you are and celebrate because you got this. So thank you, morgan, for helping me create this content. It truly is an honor to be here today and share in celebrating women's empowerment, authenticity and resilience.

And you might wonder why someone like me, who is passionate about wellness, is here talking about empowerment, authenticity and resilience. My job is helping people thrive. Empowerment, authenticity and resilience contribute to overall wellness by fostering autonomy, genuine self-expression and the ability to bounce back from challenges. Feeling empowered, authentic and resilient positively impacts your mental, emotional and physical well-being, creating a foundation for a thriving life. And today I want to briefly expand on these three pillars of strength empowerment, authenticity and resilience. They are fundamental to the essence of womanhood and vital for overall wellness.

Empowerment is not just a buzzword. It is a lifeline, a force allowing you to control your life, and, as a wellness coach, I have witnessed the transformative power that empowerment brings to people's lives. When women feel empowered, they stand tall in the face of adversity. They recognize their strengths, embrace their potential and make choices that align with their authentic selves. Authenticity the second pillar is the key to unlocking the full spectrum of our well-being. In a world that often pressures us to conform, embracing our true selves can be a revolutionary act. Authenticity is about living in alignment with our values, expressing our thoughts and feelings genuinely and embracing our uniqueness as women. When we allow ourselves to be authentic, we create a ripple effect of positive change, inspiring others to do the same. Now let's talk about resilience, the third pillar that weaves through the fabric of every empowered and authentic woman. Resilience is not about avoiding challenges. It's about bouncing back stronger after facing them. In the pursuit of wellness, resilience enables us to gracefully navigate life's crap. It's about turning setbacks into stepping stones and using adversity as a catalyst for growth.

Now I want to share a little bit of my story here with you. I am an ultra runner and, believe it or not, I like to run anything over 26.2 miles, and in January of this year, I committed to a 100 mile race. To many, this endeavor might seem borderline, insane, and perhaps it is. I won't deny the physical strain will be intense and there will be moments of undeniable pain, and at some point, I am not going to have fun. The challenge will be to keep going to the finish line, and yeah, I get bragging rights, but my motivation is much deeper. What propels me forward in this challenge is the transformation of who I become when I'm done. You see, it's more than just completing the race. It's about sculpting the internal muscle of empowerment, authenticity and resilience. Through endurance, I discover facets of myself that remain dormant in the ordinary course of life. So call me crazy if you will, but I see this as a journey to uncover the extraordinary within, creating a stronger, happier, healthier and more resilient version of myself.

You may ask a wellness professional like myself if running 100 miles and 24 to 30 hours is healthy. Well, my answer is the benefits outweigh the cost. So how can you integrate empowerment, authenticity and resilience into your life? For health and vitality, it starts with self reflection and a commitment to your wellbeing. So ask yourself what empowers me, what does authenticity look like for me, and how can I cultivate resilience in the face of challenges? These questions are the gateway to unlocking your true potential.

Let's celebrate International Women's Day with applause, recognition and a collective commitment to fostering empowerment, authenticity and resilience within ourselves and the women around us. Together, we can create a world where every woman fills the strength of her power, lives authentically and rises stronger from every challenge. And as we celebrate women's achievements today, let's also acknowledge that our path towards empowerment, authenticity and resilience is ongoing. Each of us plays a crucial role in shaping a world where every woman can thrive in her unique brilliance. May this International Women's Day inspire us to continue the pursuit of wellness, creating a better world for ourselves and generations to come. Thank you, and, as Morgan said, you got this.

In the second part of this episode, we will do a mindful meditation. The meditation will last anywhere from five to seven minutes. So make sure you're somewhere safe. You're not driving. You are somewhere where you can get comfortable because we're going to take a mindful moment to ground ourselves in the present. So, whenever you're ready, get comfortable in your body and close your eyes and take this time to reconnect with the strength, authenticity and resilience that lives inside of you. Take a deep breath and fill your lungs with fresh air and exhale slowly, releasing tension and worry. Feel the weight of your body against the support beneath you and allow yourself to be here now. Imagine a warm, golden light surrounding you, creating a protective cocoon. This light symbolizes your inner strength, authentic self and ability to take on challenges.

And as you breathe in imagine this radiant golden light expanding within you reaching every part of your being.

Feel the warmth radiating through your body, awakening a deep sense of the light. And as you breathe in, imagine this radiant golden light expanding within you, awakening a deep sense of empowerment within you. You are a force to be reckoned with, capable of facing any challenge that comes your way. You are fiercely authentic. Picture a mirror before you reflecting your true self. Gaze into this mirror, embracing the unique and genuine qualities that make you who you are. Release any mask or expectations you may carry, allowing your authentic self to shine through with each breath. Feel the freedom that comes with embracing your true self. You are a masterpiece, a one of a kind creation, and your authenticity is a gift to the world.

You are remarkably resilient.

Imagine a mighty oak tree standing tall in a storm. It's branches sway with the wind, yet its roots are firmly grounded in the earth. You are like this tree flexible in the face of adversity, yet deeply rooted in your inner strength. Picture your roots extending into the earth, anchoring you to a source of unwavering support. With each inhale, draw love, the strength of the earth into your being and, as you exhale, release any doubts or fears, allowing them to be absorbed by the ground beneath you, and know, just like the oak tree, you have the power to weather any storm. You are resilient and capable of bouncing back stronger from life's challenges. Take a moment to soak in the sensations of empowerment, authenticity and resilience surrounding you. Fill the integration of these qualities into your being, creating a new and more powerful, more powerful, more powerful, more powerful, more powerful, more powerful, more powerful, more powerful qualities into your being, a sense of balance and harmony within. Gently bring your awareness back to your breath, feel your fingers and toes and come back into the room and, when you're ready, open your eyes, carrying the energy of empowerment, authenticity and resilience with you into the world.
